Styling long locks is a fun process. Try sporting curly long hair with this easy process:
First, turn on the curling iron to low to medium heat to preheat for about 10 to 15 minutes before using. This preparatory task enables you to avoid overheating that can damage your hair strands.
Second, make sure your hair is dry already. Wet or damp hair is more susceptible to damage. Air drying is the best solution as you don’t want to expose your hair to too much heat when you blow dry it.
Third, apply styling cream or curl defining product to achieve nice curls that stay long. This will greatly help curl your hair particularly when it’s long and thick. After which, begin parting your long hair into sections, usually sides, front, and back. But it’s possible to part your hair multiple times, into tiny subsections, depending on what kind of curl you want – beach wave, telephone wire curl, or kinky.
In every section, start curling from underneath to surface hair, back to front. Doing it the other way around, there is a high chance for repetitions. You may use a stick to help define the curls when you’re using a flat iron.
Once curls are set, try not moving them as much as possible. And if you have to, move them by sections, not by strands. When everything’s done, spray on setting product to help keep the curls in place.
While the steps appear a bit complicated, constant practice makes it more doable in the long run. You’ll be able to curl your long hair in 10 minutes.
